Dr. Titman s primary areas of interest concern behaviour and ecology of waterfowl and wetland ecology. Dr Titman, a graduate of Bishop’s University, is a retired McGill University professor who is associated with the Avian Science and Conservation Centre. One of his studies involves monitoring the social interactions and reproductive success of a colonial population of Red-breasted Mergansers that return year after year to the Tern Islands in Kouchibouguac National Park in New Brunswick.

Dr Titman is well known for his involvement on boards of several conservation organisations such as Bird Studies Canada, Bird Protection Quebec, the Nature Conservancy of Canada, Conservation de la Nature Quebec, and the St. Lawrence Natural History Society Ecomuseum Zoo. Additionally he is actively involved in the McGill Bird Monitoring Observatory and he has led groups to observe birds, ecosystems and nature in Eastern Africa and Belize.

Everyone is welcome to join the St Francis Valley Naturalist Club on Wednesday September 27th at 7 pm in Lennoxville at the Amédée Beaudoin Community Centre to learn about beautiful red-breasted mergansers, the fastest flying ducks in the world.
